Vancouver, BC- Clear skies, minimal wind and overall great conditions on Saturday evening at the 2013 UBC Pre-Jerome allowed for some fantastic performances from athletes at the Rashpal Dhillon Oval. A meet record was broken in the showcase event of the evening in the men's 800m and one was tied in the women's 400m.

Richard Jones of Santa Monica track club shattered the meet record of 1:49.00, previously held by Tyler Smith of Leduc, with his time of 1:47.61. He wasn't the only one to dip under the meet record as Pablo Solares of Bay Area track club was second in 1:47.74, Shariff Webb of Santa Monica track club was third in 1:48.03 and Jordan Williamsz of Australia was fourth in 1:48.24. Hometown favourite and Point Grey track runner Nigel hole barely missed breaking the 1:50 barrier as he finished sixth in 1:50.02.

Other men's winners on Saturday included Felix Rankin of West Van track in the 100m, Kenneth Schultze of West Van track in the 200m, Adam Paul-Morris of Coastal track in the 400m, Karl Robertson of UVIC track in the 1500m, Youle Chen of Vancouver Thunderbirds in the High Jump and Justin Khouw Unattached in the Long Jump.

In the women's 400m, Casey Atkin tied the meet record of 56.51 seconds held by her teammate Danielle Delage. Jeannette Van Den Bulk was second in 58.60 and Delage was third this year in 58.64 seconds. All three runners compete for Pacific Athletics out of Victoria.

Other Women's winners included: Joy Spear Chief-Morris Unattached, a double winner in the women's 100m and 200m, Bev Ramos of Puerto Rico in the 800m, Kara Dewalt of the Bay Area track club in the 1500m, Emily Huser of UBC in the High Jump and Joyce Lin in the Long Jump.
