Gleadle headlines Women's Javelin Competition at 2013 Pre-JeromePublished by
Vancouver- 2012 Canadian Olympian, Liz Gleadle, headlines the women's javelin competition at the UBC Pre-Jerome slated for June 29th at the Rashpal Dhillon Oval. At the London games, she reached the final of the javelin competition and placed 12th in the world. Gleadle is the Canadian record holder in this event with her personal best toss of 61.15m coming from last year's Harry Jerome Classic in Burnaby. She formerly competed for UBC where she was NAIA champion four times- Gleadle is also the NAIA record holder in the women's javelin.
The meet marks a return to home turf for Gleadle and you can expect her to be familiar with the facility at Rashpal Dhillon Oval.
"This is where she started her international career, she knows the throwing runway better than anyone else in the field", said meet organizer Marek Jedrzejek.
So can we expect a Canadian record on June 29th in the women's javelin competition?
"If the conditions are right, we can expect a new Canadian record from Liz", added Jedrzejek.
